Old Castle Open Day - June 2026

  • Hawarden Estate Chester Road Deeside, Wales, CH5 United Kingdom (map)

The spring Hawarden Old Castle open day will take place at 10am to 3pm on Sunday 21st June 2026.

Access the Old Castle from the big blue gates opposite The Glynne Arms in the centre of Hawarden village, or from the entrance at Hawarden Estate Farm Shop.

The Old Castle is a nationally important, Grade I listed monument, which is only open for a handful of days each year. Explore this historic site and take in breathtaking views across Hawarden Estate, North Wales and the Cheshire Plains.

Pay for your ticket below, or pay on the gates on the day!

All children must be accompanied.

Paths up to the castle are steep and uneven.

Dogs are welcome on leads.

All proceeds go to a charity chosen by our team. This time it will be donated to the Welsh Air Ambulance. The Welsh Air Ambulance delivers advanced lifesaving medical care to people across Wales 24/7. They are the only air ambulance charity, based in, and dedicated to, the people of Wales and rely entirely on charitable donations to raise £13 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and fleet of rapid response vehicles on the road.  The Charity was formed on St. David’s Day, 1 March 2001 and operates from bases across Wales, notably Caernarfon in North Wales, their busiest base.
