Is your child obsessed with nature? Do they collect creepy crawlies or old leaves and twigs? Perhaps they enjoy birdwatching or simply spending time getting stuck into nature in whatever way they can. Well, this is the day made just for them. Kids can join us for what we hope will be an inspiring day of discovery into the wonders of the natural world. So grab your magnifying glass and become a Wild Detective.

James & Lea from Woodland Classroom will lead children through a range of activities designed to appeal to their natural curiosity and nuture the Wild Detective inside.

We will be learning through play with plenty of nature based games which will get kids brains into gear and asking questions, whilst also having fun. We will be taking our discoveries back to the activity room for further investigation with microscopes, tweezers, field guides and a host of experiments. So, grab your magnifying glass! All this will take against the backdrop of our basecamp in the woods at Hawarden Estate Farm Shop ancient woodland, meadowas, orchards and footpath network.

Does your child fancy themselves as a YouTube star? Throughout the day kids will also be creating a video of their wild discoveries which we will then edit and put on our YouTube channel for them and their families to enjoy*

♦ Guided scavenger hunts through the woods and parkland

♦ Learning through play: nature games to inspire young minds

♦ Try out your 'worm-charming' skills

♦ Dissect an owl pellet and see what he had for dinner

♦ Become a tree guru: Identify native trees even when they're missing their leaves!

♦ Make a plaster cast of a wild animal track

♦ Dive into field guides and learn how to use them

♦ We'll be playing the kids' favourite "Whose Poo?" Investigating animal droppings

♦ Create and star in our own film of the day's adventures, to be published on YouTube

♦ Opportunities for play in the woods to give enquiring minds a break; den building, rope games and camouflage.

...but who knows what we will discover in the wild?

Tickets are Β£35 per child and Β£30 for each additional sibling.

This day is open to children aged 7-12 years.

All activities are based in and around our basecamp at Hawarden Estate Farm Shop and it's surrounding woods. Children will make new friends and learn new skills whilst enjoying a fantastic day out in nature, all led by experienced activity leaders.

Parents don't stay with their children during this event. Our forest school activity days are all supervised by trained and experienced staff… that’s us. If your child has special needs that you feel would require a parent or guardian to stay with them for the day though, we would advise getting in touch with us in advance of making a booking and we'll see what we can arrange. We like to be as inclusive as we can.
