Kids can join us for a day in the woods learning to cook up delicious meals and snacks over a crackling campfire. Children will gain confidence in cooking up a variety of foods outdoors from wild teas, to fresh bread, to scrummy desserts. This day is perfect for any child who loves the outdoor life and they’ll pick up a whole bunch of skills to use on their next family camping trip. Expect sticky fingers 🙂

Kids will also build their own campfires and create their own camp cooking gadgets from natural materials to grill, fry, bake and boil a range of tasty treats. All this will take place in our bushcraft basecamp within the grounds of the Hawarden Estate against the backdrop of the woodlands, orchards and fields.

Activities will Include:

♦ Take a foraging walk on the hunt for edible plants

♦ Baking scrummy puddings in a dutch oven

♦ Build your own campfire and cook on it

♦ Craft your own campfire gadgets to hang your cooking pot

♦ Learn to cook up quick & easy alternatives to toasting marshmallows

♦ Bake bannock bread in a pan next to the campfire

♦ Create a woodland feast with campfire calzones, garlic bread, potato waffles, toasties, nettle crisps and more

♦ Plenty of opportunity for play in the woods including favourites like den building, rope games and camouflage

Tickets are £37 per child and £32 for each additional sibling.

The activities are aimed at 8-12 year olds due to the higher skill level required of kids when doing campfire cooking, but we have had younger and older children come along so if you feel that your child would be suited to the day, then do get in touch with us and we can decide if this event is a good fit for your child.

All activities are based around our forest school shelter and surrounding woods. Children will make new friends and learn new skills whilst enjoying a fantastic day out in nature, all led by experienced activity leaders.

Parents don’t stay with their children during this event. Our forest school activity days are all supervised by trained and experienced staff… that’s us. If your child has special needs that you feel would require a parent or guardian to stay with them for the day though, we would advise getting in touch with us in advance of making a booking and we’ll see what we can arrange. We like to be as inclusive as we can.
