Rabbit, Venison, Zebra & Crocodile at the Farm Shop!
It's Game Week at the Farm Shop, come and get our choice game cuts at the butchery. Rich and lean, our venison is high in protein and low in fat. And for some inspiration, we have an excellent Thomasina Miers recipehere for her Venison, Quince and Rosemary Picadillo (aka Chile Con Carne). Thomasina is a cook, food writer, television presenter, co-founder of Wahaca Restaurants, and you will probably know her as a winner of television's Master Chef. She is a passionate advocate of responsibly-sourced and wonderfully cooked food, and will be joining us at this year's Good Life Experience in September - more info here!
If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, we also have some weird and wonderful not-so-locally-sourced meats in our game freezer, including Zebra, Crocodile and Ostrich steaks. Sorry, we looked, and there were no crocs to be found in the River Dee, so we ventured further afield. Zebra meat is favoured by atheletes as it is high in protein and very low in fat, with about a third of the calories of a rump steak. It also has additional zinc to kick start your immune system and vitamin B12 to boost energy levels. If you can't find it, or have any questions, just ask, our team is here to help!
