Blackcurrant plate pie

By: Sarah Date: 08/07/13 Category: Recipes

A ridiculously easy pie.

400g black currants
200g granulated sugar
Enough pasty for two crust pie
Caster sugar to dust the top

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas Mark 4.
Roll out half the pastry into a circle large enough to cover the base of the plate. Top with the black currants, leaving an edge. Sprinkle the sugar over the top. Roll out the remaining pastry to cover. Dampen the edges and press together. Trim and crimp with a fork. Vent the top to allow steam to escape. Brush with milk and sprinkle caster sugar on top. Place on a baking tray in the oven for 25 – 30 minutes.

Serve with ice cream or cream
