Raising a toast
Starting on Monday (Jan 26) and running through to the following Sunday, it's official 'shake-up-your-wake-up' Farmhouse Breakfast Week. Time to get serious about eating a healthy breakfast every day! This annual campaign, which the Farm Shop has joined in for many years, is managed by the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board on behalf of arable farmers who grow wheat, barley, oats and oilseed rape – everything that's in your daily cereal and toast. It's a timely reminder of where our breakfast comes from and how important it is to start the day with a good dollop of slow-release carbohydrates – it doesn't benefit you or your metabolism to skip breakfast, even though it is estimated that as many as 47% of us regularly do. Our famous Farm Shop Café breakfasts include the butchery's award-winning sausages, home-made black pudding, Nant Ucha free-range eggs fried to perfection, mushrooms, tomatoes and doorstep toast dripping with melted butter. For the duration of Farmhouse Breakfast Week we'll be happy to give you a complimentary glass of fresh orange juice to go with your full breakfast.
