Announcing The Good Life Experience:

a one-day festival of culture, food & the great outdoors for the whole family

at Hawarden Estate Farm Shop

Saturday September 20

A very big, exciting announcement. There's a brand new mini festival coming to the Farm Shop in September, which is a smorgasbord of all our favourite things: food, music and the great outdoors. So it's a festival quite unlike any other, and promises to be a fantastic day out for the whole family. It started when Charlie and Caroline Gladstone – who wrote Pedlars Guide to the Great Outdoors – got together with the musician Cerys Matthews. A prolific performer, songwriter and broadcaster, Cerys may also spring to mind for her famous duet with Tom Jones ('Baby it's cold outside'), and she's coming to headline at Hawarden! She and the Gladstones have also curated a collection of other musical artists, both individuals and groups, who bring a taste of their own culture with them: Paprika (Romania, Serbia, UK), Murray Lachlan Young, harpist Georgia Ruth, the London Bulgarian Choir, CC Smugglers, a British band playing original songs inspired by world music, folk and swing... and more.

So that's the music part. Then there's the food part: we'll have Tom Herbert of The Fabulous Baker Brothers cooking on a campfire, classes with Australian restaurateur Bill Granger, the chance to meet chef-prodigy Luke Thomas and salad queen Harry Eastwood, sausage-making courses, a coffee masterclass by Brewed Boy, a massive tent full of craft beers to taste – and, because it's all happening in and around the Farm Shop, the chance to eat and enjoy some of the greatest British food you can find.

And finally... the great outdoors. We've invited our friends from Best Made Co all the way from New York to show their inimitable collection of handmade axes and to lead an axe-throwing masterclass – yes, you really can have a go. Then there's archery and bushcraft for everyone, yoga instruction, book shop, abseiling, a rock & roll café and a vintage fairground.

Tickets can be purchased here at the Farm Shop or on line through Ticketline or Pedlars.
