We're planning a weekend of extreme fun and adventure for Father’s day over the 17th and 18th June at the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop. First up –and a first for the Farm Shop- there will be zorbing for all ages to have a go at. This, for those who haven’t come across it before, is the exhilarating activity of rolling around, trying out forward flips and backward rolls, and crashing into others while safely encased in a giant plastic ball. It’s great fun for both participants and spectators alike! £5 per 5 minute go, no need to book.
On Father’s Day itself, Sunday 18th June, the historic Hawarden Old Castle will be open to visitors from 2-5pm. There is a fee on the gate of £3 for adults, with up to two children free, and then £3 each for any further children and toddlers go free, all of which goes to Clwyd Special Riding School. The castle is a grade I listed medieval castle, with its oldest fortifications dating back to the Iron Age. It is only open to the public on a handful of days every year, so this is a rare opportunity to take in both some history and some wonderful views of the Estate.

There will be plenty to see and do at the Farm Shop itself over the weekend, with visitors able to make use of the adventure play area, new rope swing and ping pong table and outdoor Smoke Shack and Ice Cream Parlour. We have also recently launched our very own Market Place on site. Traditional counter stalls are manned by local producers, makers and businesses and it is open from 10am to 4pm every weekend.
