BANK HOLIDAY FUN DAY – SATURDAY 26TH AUGUST

We have a fantastic day of family fun lined up for you this Saturday 26th August, to take full advantage of the long Bank Holiday Weekend! We have lots on to entertain all ages, have a look at our programme of activities below and take your pick!

WATER ZORBING
From 10am-4pm. Our zorbing day a few weeks back was a huge success, and this time the zorbs will be on water. We will be joined by the zorbing experts from Izorb who will make sure you have a lot of fun, but most importantly that the zorbing is completely safe. There is no minimum age for zorbing, the Izorb team are able to tailor the zorbing to all ages. So...be prepared to get wet!

MY PHOTOPOOCH
From 10am-3pm Fantastic Canine Photographer Eleri Griffiths will be here to take portraits of your favourite hounds. Sessions will be run from our Citroen van on a drop in basis, so bring your hound and come and say hello!

SHELTER CYMRU DOG SHOW
From 10am-2pm. Is your dog up for the challenge? Enter them into one (or more) or the four categories; Musical Sits, Best Junior Handler, Best Paw Shaker and Best in Show. The show will start at 1pm but keen canines can register from 10am or via email to sarah@hawardenestate.co.uk. Entry is £3 per dog. All proceeds go to Shelter Cymru. There is a £20 Hawarden Estate Farm Shop voucher prize for each category.

[Shelter Cymru is Wales' People and Homes Charity. Last year it supported almost 19,000 people at risk of losing their home or living in poor housing. Since Shelter Cymru was established in 1981 the charity has helped around half a million people fight for their rights, get back on their feet and find and keep a home.]

BUSHCRAFT + SURVIVAL SKILLS
From 10am - 3pm Andy from Castle Rock Crafts will run a full programme of bushcraft skills, so come and learn to light a fire or make a shelter.

  • Fire - £1 a go for both techniques, 50p for 1
    Basic Firelighting techniques using fire steels and Flint & Steels,

  • Shelter 1 - £2 each
    Making mini Bushcraft bracelets. Having a good length of string made into a bracelet on your wrist is great for tying your natural shelter together.

  • Shelter 2 - £1 each
    Making mini wilderness shelters out of sticks. Something for the kids to make and take home.

  • Water - £1 a go
    Having a go at making water filtering systems from natural materials.

  • Food - £1 for 6 shots
    A kid friendly target shoot using a very basic single shot airsoft rifle

  • Navigation - 25p a go
    A short orienteering style course around a corner of our field area.
